New Jeep Compass High Altitude Special Edition comes with mild-hybrid power

The Jeep Compass has a new High Altitude trim level with minor tweaks to the exterior and interior

Jeep has taken steps to up the appeal of its Compass mid-size SUV model - bringing out this Compass High Altitude Special Edition alongside the new Uplands Special Edition of the smaller Jeep Renegade.

The Jeep Compass High Altitude Special Edition is based on the entry-level Limited model from the standard range and costs an extra £525 at £35,080. For the additional cash you get a red stitching to the profile of the dashboard and there’s black seats with powered lumbar adjustment with more red stitching - unique to the High Altitude. Something Jeep calls ‘Techno-leather’ covers the steering wheel.

Jeep’s mild-hybrid powertrain is used for this special edition model. It’s a tiny 19bhp 0.8kWh 48V battery mated to a 128bhp 1.5-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, with 240Nm of torque in total. Jeep uses a new dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the front wheels only, so don’t expect to be going on trails or green-laning in the High Altitude.

The exterior has been touched up with black detailing, body-coloured bumpers and mudguards, plus exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels finished in black.

As it’s based on the Limited model, the High Altitude features cornering fog lights, LED headlights, a 10.25-inch driver’s instrument display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Safety systems such as forward collision warning, active lane assist and adaptive cruise control are all standard.
