Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster pick-up makes debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Ineos is growing its range with the arrival of the Grenadier Quartermaster pick-up truck

Ineos has made quite the splash in the off-road SUV market with its Grenadier and now the British newcomer is expanding into the pick-up segment with another model - the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster. This new arrival is effectively a double-cab pick-up version of the Grenadier SUV and it’s been revealed for the first time at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Quartermaster’s tough ladder-frame chassis is extended by 305mm compared to the Grenadier’s, allowing it to accommodate a large, open load area to the rear. The space is 1,564mm long and 1,619mm wide, big enough to take a standard Europallet with room to spare.

A payload of 760kg means that the Grenadier Quartermaster does not qualify for the commercial vehicle tax breaks afforded to rival double cab pick-ups with capacities over 1,000kg, like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. That, along with the £66,215 starting price, will limit the appeal to businesses and means the vehicle is best viewed as an alternative bodystyle for Grenadier buyers needing the extra versatility of the open load bed on the back of their 5-seater SUV.

Like the Grenadier, the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster is loaded with features designed to add utility. The load bed has a 1,280mm wide tailgate that can support up to 225kg and there are tie-down points inside with utility rails for securing loads available as an option. There’s also a 400W power supply for running electrical equipment.

Power in the Grenadier Quartermaster comes from the same BMW-sourced three-litre straight-six engines as in the Grenadier. There’s a choice of petrol and diesel units with power outputs of 282bhp and 246bhp respectively. The 0-62mph sprint takes 8.8 seconds in the petrol with the diesel a second slower, while both can hit a 99mph top speed.

In all cases, drive is sent through a ZF automatic gearbox to a 4x4 system incorporating low-range gearing and a centre locking differential - with front and rear locking diffs on the options list. Off-road ability is an integral part of the Ineos offering and the Grenadier Quartermaster has some impressive numbers, namely 265mm of ground clearance and an 800mm maximum wading depth.

The trim level range also matches the Grenadier’s so buyers can choose Fieldmaster and Trailmaster models with a wide variety of options and option packs allowing for a high level of personalisation in the specification of individual cars. It will certainly be easy to bump your Grenadier Quartermaster up above the £66,000 entry price and order books are open now so you can make a start.
