Best value cars 2023

The UK's biggest motoring bargains go head-to-head

Shopping around for the best deal is no easy task, and you might need to venture beyond the traditional channels of the main dealer network.

Nowhere does this matter more than in the world of Personal Contract Hire, where there are countless companies able to cut a fabulous deal, often for very limited periods.

We’ve scoured the market to find lease bargains in six classes, all for less than £250 per month. We have also thoroughly tested each car on our list to find you the very best choice for your money.

What are the best value cars?

We’ve searched far and wide to find you the very best cars for a modest budget. Read on to see our top picks from a range of classes below.

What is PCH finance?

The simplest way to explain PCH (also known as leasing) is to think of it like an extended car rental. Each contract will be of a fixed length, generally 24-48 months, and an up-front payment usually costs between the equivalent of three to 12 months of rental payments. The more you pay up front, the lower the monthly bills will be.

After this, it’s on to fixed monthly payments; as you’ll see with the majority of our deals, the cheapest prices limit your annual mileage to 5,000 miles, so you’ll need to pay a little more if you want to go further.

Once the agreed contract is up, you just hand the car back. This is different from Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) agreements, where at the end of a term you can either pay off the remaining balance to buy the car outright, or put the value of the car beyond the outstanding finance towards a deposit on your next PCP agreement.
